Nancy J. Fagan loves to write historical women’s fiction, contemporary short stories, and essays, often with medical themes. You can find her work in Scarlet, Kaleidoscope Journal, Tamarind Literary (UK), and the award-winning Coolest American Stories 2023, among others. She enjoys developing strong female protagonists by digging through historical accounts and library archives to help her create realistic scenes. Her background as a nurse who has worked in a variety of settings brings richness and complexity to her characters.
In addition to being a registered nurse, she has a BA in English from Mount Holyoke College, and an MFA in Writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. A western Massachusetts-based writer, you’ll also find her through The Author’s Guild, the Historical Novel Society, and the Women’s Fiction Writers Association.
