Nancy J. Fagan loves to write medical fiction, historical women’s fiction, and contemporary short stories and essays. You can find her work in Kaleidoscope Journal, Tamarind Literary Magazine (UK), the award-winning Coolest American Stories 2023, NiftyLit, Fiction International, The Bangalore Review, Breath & Shadow, and Abilities-Canada, among others. She enjoys developing strong female protagonists by digging through historical accounts and library archives to help her create realistic scenes. Her background as a nurse who has worked in many different areas of medicine brings richness and complexity to her characters.

In addition to being a registered nurse, she has a BA in English from Mount Holyoke College, and an MFA in Writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. A western Massachusetts-based writer, she lives with her husband and two cats, Stan and Ollie.
